For those of you who have followed me for the last few years, know that I enjoy making things from aprons to snoods. I've been wanting to host a give-away, now I have the opportunity! Andy over at Declared Unto Him is hosting a handmade give-away where the first five people to leave a comment would receive a handmade gift from her... in turn the five would also post & host a handmade give away. I was blessed to be one of the first five to comment.

So, if you would like to be a blessing to someone else AND receive a handmade gift from me just leave a comment.

Where did this give away originate anyway? I had to find out so I started back tracking. Andy hosted this give-way and was one of the five from tribalmama, tribalmama was one of the five from Lazy J Bar C Farm, Lazy J was one of the five from Giggles and Rasberries, Giggles was one of the five from Sky minded and Growing, and finally Sky was one of the five from Alice @ The Life of a Novice. Tropical Salad

I know, in the winter? I couldn't help it, ever since

I had a Hawaiian Chicken Salad at Cheddar's Restaurant

I had been wanting to make one. So, I found a

Honey Lime Dressing recipe and got creative!

So, here is what I came up with:

Try to use Fresh organic when possible

Salad

Romain Lettuce

Walnuts

Pineapple chunks

Strips of grilled or roasted chicken breast

Tortilla Chips in strips

Pico De Gallo

1 med. tomato, diced
1 onion, finely chopped
1/2 fresh jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
2 sprigs fresh cilantro, finely chopped
1 green onion finely chopped
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper

Honey Lime Dressing

1 egg beaten

1/4 cup lime juice

1 tsp grated lime ring

1/2 cup honey

1/8 tsp salt

1/8 tsp ground mace (I used a pinch of nutmeg instead)

1 cup of sour cream

Combine egg, lime juice, grated lime rind,

and honey in saucepan; cook over low heat

until thickened, stirring constantly.

Add salt and mace; cool. fold in sour

cream; chill.

To assemble:
first place lettuce on a plate, sprinkle
walnuts around the lettuce, add
Pico De Gallo, pineapples, dal-lop
dressing in several places
on the salad, and then place your chicken strips
across the salad with the tortilla chip
strips being the final touch

Yummy Plum Pistachio...

Mittens!

I've learned a new knitting stitch Fair Isle, using two or more different colored yarns to knit a lovely pattern. It was fun to learn and a quick knit, I knit up a pair with a scarf in just under a week. Now to begin knitting up a pair for each of my girls!

Hum... I might even knit up a pair for a winter give-away ;-)

Surger Free Peanut Butter Cups

I came across this recipe for sugarless chocolate peanut butter cups

at At Home with Kare these have to be the best tasting

sugarfree candy I've yet had!! My girls love them

AND they're good for them!!

Since cutting out sugar, something we loved to

indulge in, we've had to find other

sweets to enjoy. We were buying Paul Newman's

Peanut Butter Cups at $2.98 a package which had

three little cups in it. And the taste...

well let's say it tasted like sugar free!!

Now, I can make a tray of 24 for under $5.00, all organic,

sugar free, and DELICIOUS!!

I highly recommend if you have a sweet tooth for chocolate

and peanut butter to hop on over to Kare's

and try out her recipe, you'll be licking your fingers and thanking me

for sharing, oh and of course without

Kare sharing I'd still be eating Newman's horrible

A New Perspective

(cognitive), one's "point of view", the choice of a context for opinions, beliefs and experiences

In the last few weeks my perspective on 'the narrow way' has changed or actually has been brought to a more true or accurate definition. As I was pondering on changing my blog design and possibly the title, the question came to my mind, what does narrow mean?. I had my idea of what it meant pertaining to my life, being set-apart, walking in the ways of our Creator, and allow the Ruach to take off and put on as needed in this Torah walk. But I soon found out that we were actually LIVING the more accurate meaning...

Seeking:
in the Hebrew the word is בקש baw-kash (there is no short a vowel sound in Hebrew) means to search out, strive after, beg, beseech, or desire.
Narrow:
צר tsawr which means to be afflicted, adversary, anguish, distress, enemy, foe, narrow, strait, tribulation, or trouble. And in the Greek it means to crowd, narrow, afflict, throng, suffer tribulation, or trouble.
Way:
דרך deh-rek refers to a road, coarse of life, mode of action, a long way, custom, journey, manner, passage, through, or towards.

Wow, OK I was taken back to say the least, of coarse I knew this way was full of trials and tribulations but to actually realize what my quest in the walk was... tribulation, troubles, hardships... truly I had know idea of what it was I was seeking! However, I can say that I have found it and yes all the descriptive words have captured what my last 11 years have been. I remember praying that I would seek the narrow way, if I would have only remembered this scripture,

Mat 7:14 “Because the gate is narrow and the way is hard pressed which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Footnote: Or the way is afflicted. (The Scriptures)

I surely would have not asked to desire the narrow way! But, in His goodness Yah granted me my request and has taken us a hard-pressed way, a way that has caused me to grow-up, a way that taught me to release my way, my dreams and my stuff to Him. And in doing so, you know what, I found out that He is more than able to keep me in every circumstance! I also found out that all that 'stuff' I thought was mine, was actually His, His to give and to take as He sees fit. Yahweh has been good to me, he brought me to a place where I thought for sure I was not His, lost, never to enter into His kingdom. And at that moment when the enemy had whispered his most hopeless lie to me, my response was... "Where shall I go Yah? You are Life, you are truth, and the world has nothing I desire... it's You I want... well, if I'm not yours, I'll just hang on to your robes until the very end and then you can do with me as you see fit because the world has nothing for me, it's You that I desire to live for and I will live for" This happened just a few months ago and of coarse Yah showed me that I was His and that it was the enemy was lying to me. But he also showed me in that, that He is the lover of my soul that if choices have to be made that Praise Yah I do believe, He would be my choice in life or death!

This Narrow way has been hard and very revealing! But you know what... I find myself hungering for it all the more AND praying for it more earnestly because in this way of affliction, tribulation, troubles, and obstacles I have found LIFE, just as he promised!

First Fruits ~ He is Risen

HalleluYah It's First Fruits! Lev 23:11 Yahshua was risen on Early First Fruits which lands on the morrow (first day of the week; sunday) after the first Shabbat (saturday) following Passover.

The Tomb is Empty!

We celebrate that Yahweh's Messiah Yahshua has risen and we are counting the next
50 days in celebration and anticipation for the latter first fruits. The day that the Holy Spirit
fell upon 120 believers in the upper room. Incidentally the Torah was given to Moshe on
Mt Sinai on the latter First Fruits...wow, the Torah written on tablets of stone. After
Yahshua's resurrection, the Torah was written on tablets of our hearts.

This is one of the counting the omer charts we found. We are using the one at Torah Tots.

We are also following the daily scripture readings found here (click on omer chart)
At the end of the week we will give the girls a treat or little gift to signify one week
of seven.
We are still learning what the feast and festival of Yahweh are about, and their significance to his believers today.

Just a real quick note...

Happy New Year!!

we were so blessed last year to see the new year's moon,

however this year we weren't able to. We had a bad

T-storm yesterday and rain there after till night fall.

When we went out to look for the new moon it was

dark and over cast... so this morn I hopped on

over to yrm's newmoon site to see if others

had perhaps witnessed the new moon, sure

enough about 17 people saw and reported it!

To Be Drawn Away

I've not been posting much lately... I'm being drawn away... the lover of my soul beckons me to sit at his feet to learn of him, it is time for another break from the blogging world. It is my time to refocus and to prioritized those things which need me most, Elohim and my family. I will check my e-mail daily and once a week check out some of my favorite blogs, leaving a quick comment now and then but for the most part the pc/internet is off limits. Jesus is praying to the Father, and prays for His disciples to be sanctified through the Father’s truth. How did the disciples teach the Father’s truth and prove that Jesus was the true Messiah? Did they quote from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John? Can you imagine John saying, “Turn to chapter 1 verse 17 from my new book the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Me.”? Of course that didn’t happen. The truth that Jesus was referring to was and is the Old Testament. If “Thy Word” is truth why would Jesus abolish it? If we do away with the truth we are accepting a lie. Delicious Sugarless Chocolate Candies

I have to share this recipe I found,

it's raw, rich, delicious, nutty, chocolaty and

sugar free!!

I've been in search for a sweet chocolaty

candy or cookie that is sugarless and

have tried several recipes and to tell the

truth I nearly gave up till I tried this one

from Raw LouLou

it's a raw chocolate and it's worth the try,

believe me this one is good!!

Of course I tweaked it a bit, I'm not

a lover of carob (yuck, yuck, and yuck!!)

so here is what I did:

First I didn't want to make a whole batch and

end up dumping in the trash so I reduced it down.

3 1/2 T of Coca

2 1/2 T of Carob (this was my change)

3 T of Honey

3 T of warm coco oil

pour some chopped pecans in didn't measure (this was my addition to the recipe)

I followed her instructions for mixing, then poured or

rather spooned the chocolate mix into

a candy mold. Placed in the refrigerator till

they were hard. Popped them out and

placed them in an air tight container,

back into the fridge...

I ended up with 25 pieces of candies... that didn't

last the day. My family loves them.... and I did too!!

now I have a raw chocolate candy for my chocolate craving!!

I've since made this recipe several times.

I might go ahead and make a full batch or at least

half a batch according to her measurements.

New Flavour for our Natrual Toothpaste

During Sukkot last year,

Pamela @ HomeShalom shared with me some

wonderful flavors to add to my home

made tooth paste.

So this evening I was whipping together another

batch of toothpaste using baking soda and coco oil

I added the two oil based edible flavors to

my toothpaste. And I'm happy to

report that my girls, who normally gag

using the homemade toothpaste gave a

happy thumbs up as they both

were actually brushing their teeth with

pleasant countenance, both not just one!

AMAZING!!

What are these flavors that brought about such

a positive change in my girls

you might ask.

The flavors I add were,

orange and clove

flavorings with a few

packs of Stevia to add some sweetness

I usually don't measure out my ingredients to make

toothpaste so I don't have a 'recipe' . When I first started

making toothpaste I just Google toothpaste recipe and

there were several pages to choose from.

Why I am Against Bikini Clad Girls and Bare Chested Boys Swimming in My Lake

All my life I have loved water and most all water sports. Just this week, I bruised my rib surfing in the Atlantic Ocean. I absolutely love to be in the water. When walking by a stream, there is something so magnetic that I cannot help but look at it constantly. When I was twelve, my father and I built a Kayak and we paddled and swam in the Pacific Ocean, behind Glen Canyon Dam, the Colorado River, and the Salton Sea. Lake or creek, pond or tributary, ocean or sea, I love them all. You can imagine why water baptism means so much to me. The cleansing waves washing over are always deeply symbolic. The statement, “out of his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water (John 7:37), strikes me to the soul because of my love for water.
Problem: this love for water has caused me conflict because of the common attire that is worn. Water activities are engaged either in bikinis or with bare chests.
So why does this have to be a problem? Some would say, “Scott you have changed, why the change?” So, let’s answer the question. What has caused me to re-think bikini clad girls and bare chested boys swimming in my lake. There are at least five things that have caused the change.

A Biblical Understanding of History
A Biblical Understanding on Modesty
A Biblical Understanding of Clothing
A Biblical Understanding of Nakedness
A Biblical Understanding of Temptation

1. A Biblical Understanding of History

Understanding the times is a Christian virtue. And, viewing the flow of history, through a biblical filter, is the way that history should be understood. So, a few years ago I read a book by Jeff Pollard, Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America, where he documents a historical perspective on modesty. Among other things, the book chronicles the reasons for the drift away from modesty in the last one hundred years.
Over the last hundred years, we have had, as Jeff Pollard has said, “The public undressing of America.”. What was illegal in clothing 100 years ago, and would cause your arrest, is now popular and accepted everywhere — even in churches.
1890’s: Swimwear was modified street clothing 1910: Arms were exposed
1920: You would be arrested if you appeared in a modest 21st century bathing suit
1920’s: Legs and backs were exposed
1930’s: Cleavage was exposed and men began to swim bare chested
1935: Two piece bathing suits appeared with a small break between upper and lower half
1940’s: New fabrics appeared which hugged the body
1960’s: Navels were exposed
Today: Anything goes… One piece suits with fabrics like skin that really leaves nothing to the imagination and bikinis of various categories prevail as normal.
Today, the fashions are so pervasively broadcast over every media outlet that everyone dresses the same when they swim. Movies and TV have so popularized nakedness, that if you challenge it, you are not thought of as being very accepting. In fact, if you do cover your body it seems odd.
Jeff Pollard says it this way, “Fashion designers have used swimwear to undress America.” Who can deny this? It is as obvious as a fly on your nose.
So it is time to shout it out with perfect clarity: “The empress has no clothes!”. For the last two generations we have been told that swimwear is about fashion. They say, “Fashion is neutral. Don’t criticize fashion, it is only fashion.” No! It is public nakedness.
My evaluation of the modern bathing suit is that it is nakedness thinly veiled. And, they are not appropriate for public display. My solution is to cover them up with shorts or some kind of top that keeps private the details.
I have come to the place where I am not willing to continue in the direction our culture has taken us. We have followed the styles further than we should have. We have slowly arrived at the place where we are “ok” with our daughters and wives wearing less than underwear in public.
As popular dress exposes nakedness it should be rejected, as it is rejected at the Brown’s lake. I am not willing to keep following fashion.

2. A Biblical Understanding on Modesty

The 1983 version of Webster’s dictionary describes modesty in this way:

Behaving according to a standard of what is proper or decorous; decent; pure; now, especially not displaying ones body.

Webster is helpful, but Scripture speaks with divine authority regarding modesty. In this case, the scriptural understanding is consistent with Webster’s.
I Timothy 2:9-10 makes it clear that God has something to say about how women dress. He is interested in both your appearance and your heart. He is not only interested in your heart. It is not truthful to say that God does not care how you dress, as long as your heart is right. These verses make it clear that appearance is important.
Most American Christians do not want anyone to talk about how to dress, but here in this passage of scripture, God is telling the people in the church of Ephesus how to dress.
When it comes to dress, Americans are under the nurture and admonition of popular magazines and Hollywood movies. The media has become the jury and judge for matters of dress, displacing the clear teaching of scripture.

In I Timothy 2:9-10, Paul uses three words that describe the kind of apparel that women should wear:

A. Orderly Clothing — “Kosmeo’ — Order
We get our word, cosmetics from this word. It means to, “To adorn, arrange, put in order.” It implies harmonious orderly arrangement, instead of rumpled, uncoordinated chaos.
B. Modest Clothing —‘Aidos” Shamefacedness
This describes the state of mind that governs dress: respectful timidity, not showy, honoring others, not attracting attention. It is a blend of modesty and humility.
George Knight explains the meaning of “shamefacedness” in this way:

Reverence, awe, respect for the feeling or opinion of others or for one’s own conscience and to shame, self-respect… sense of honour. That habitual self government with it’s constant reign on all it’s passions and desires, which would hinder the temptation from arising… — George Knight, Commentary on Ephesians, P134

William Hendrickson suggests that shamefacedness ‘indicates a sense of shame, a shrinking from trespassing the boundaries of propriety.” — William Hendrickson, New Testament Commentary, p106
I don’t think many people could argue very effectively against the idea that we have lost a sense of shame regarding dress. It is harder and harder to find clothing that allows modesty. Why, because it is not fashionable to dress modestly as evidenced by a review of the clothing seen in the public in our land. They are places of revealing, not modest clothing.
C. Moderate Clothing – “Sophrosunes”, or Understatement
This word calls for “soundness of mind, self control, passions and desires, a self control which holds the reins over Propriety” It is a word that implies moderation; humility; without shame; honorable to God; self control; hating sin.
This sets modesty in opposition to elaborate hairstyles and expensive clothing.
In summary there are at least two areas that Paul is addressing for the men and women in the church. As Paul exposes some specific types of apparel that are familiar to all of his hearers, he is forbidding this kind of apparel among believers. So I will, here in the 21st century, do the same for us. It is appropriate for me to take the principles that Paul has given and compare them to the popular experience.
Paul is forbidding the imitation of worldly fashion in two specific areas:

Sensual/Sexually explicit
Ostentatious/Expensive

All women’s clothing whether on land or sea should not call out “fashion, sex, pride”, but it should call out “God, purity, humility.”
Paul wants to motivate the women in Ephesus to re-examine their dress because they lived among pagan Greeks who glorified the exposure of the human body. This is exactly what we should do today, even though this places us at odds with the culture, as it did with the Ephesian believers. But what is despised by the world is often acceptable to God.

3. A Biblical Understanding of Clothing

If you look at what scripture says about clothing, you find that clothing is meant for covering the body, not revealing it. Scripture tells us that sin is the reason for the need to clothe the body. Since the fall, we are no longer naked and unashamed.

Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Genesis 3:10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
Genesis 3:21 “Also for Adam and his wife the Lord made tunics of skin, and clothed them.” The word “tunics” is translated in other places “coats” or “garments” and they usually refer to clothing that completely covers the body.

Scripture adequately answers the question, “Why Clothing”? The answer, ‘To cover nakedness.”
But if you go to the shopping malls to look for clothing and walk the streets and the beaches to see what folks were wearing, you would think that the purpose of clothing was to reveal your body to excite and entice men, not cover it. The predominance of tight shirts, halter tops, string bikinis, tube tops, mini skirts, belly shirts, swimwear, and athletic clothing tell the story quite effectively.
The joys of swimming or opportunities for participation in certain types of athletics are not adequate reasons to ignore God’s purpose for clothing. But, there are hosts of people in our churches who think that if you are swimming or competing in track and field, it is ok to go half naked or wear revealing clothing.
We have done with clothing the same thing we have done with art. It is exempt from biblical evaluation. For example, most everyone reveres the artistic contributions of Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci, who are arguably the most talented painters and sculptors in the history of mankind. Who were these men? Their works were primarily influenced by pagan Greek philosophy which glorified and exposed the naked body. Under the influence of homosexuality, they produced some of the most adored homoerotic sculptures and paintings of the gay community. We call it art.
Somehow, in the evangelical community, art and fashion have become exempt from biblical evaluation. Call naked sculpture “art”, and modern swimwear “fashion”, if you will, but let’s just be honest and give it the other label it deserves: public nakedness. Unfortunately for swimwear shoppers, public nakedness is forbidden in the Bible.

4. A Biblical Understanding of Nakedness

What does the Bible say about nakedness? We know that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” We know that we are made in “the image of God.” The human body is obviously a marvel. God Himself invented sex and the joys of marital nakedness. We know that the Song of Solomon glorifies the shape of a man and a woman. But, do we find encouragement for the public unclothed display of the human body? Do we find examples of a favorable view of public nakedness? Do we find a record of godly artists depicted in scripture who display the naked human form in a favorable light? No!
When you look up the instances of the word “naked” or “nakedness” you find a certain approach and attitude that should shape our view. Here are a few passages that give the right approach.

Genesis 9:22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren..
Genesis 9:23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
Exodus 28:42 And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:
Leviticus 18:6 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 18:7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
Exodus 32:25 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)
Revelation 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

It is clear that uncovering nakedness is sinful behavior. It is shameful to reveal the naked body. But in our culture, it is a virtue to reveal it. The world says, “If you’ve got it, flaunt it.” The Bible says that nakedness should be covered and that you should be ashamed of yourself if you “flaunt it.” This causes us problems because we live in a christian culture that accepts nakedness when it is seen at the beach, when it is displayed in a sports event, when it is seen in the art gallery, when it is watched in the media and when it is displayed in the church. At least we are being consistent.
Where did we get the idea that naked sculptures and pictures are acceptable and desirable? The Bible does not endorse art with nakedness. Pagan cultures do. Unfortunately, our Greek and Roman roots inform in this area far more than the Bible. We should not forget that some of our most revered artifacts of Greek sculpture were produced by homosexual, pagan artists.
So what about bare chestedness among men? It is eminently more comfortable to swim without a shirt on. However, I believe that the principle of nakedness applies here. At the Brown pond, I recommend wearing a T-shirt or a surfing shirt sometimes called a “rash guard.”, which is made of polyester and is much more comfortable in water.

. A Biblical Understanding of Temptation

There should be a sense of shame for distracting someone from purity. There should be a sense of shame for having a distracting appearance.
A woman who hates sin would have shame to tempt in any way. This is why Jesus is so clear about causing other people to stumble. Matthew 18:6-10

But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes! If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire. Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

This is why we should counsel our Christian wives and daughters to rid their wardrobes of tight clothing and modern bathing suits that expose the body rather than understate it’s form.
Joshua Harris writes:

Girls, you have an equally important role. Remember the wayward woman we discussed earlier? Your job is to keep your brothers from being led astray by her charms. Please be aware of how easily your actions and glances can stir up lust in a guy’s mind.
You may not realize this, but we guys most commonly struggle with our eyes. I think many girls are innocently unaware of the difficulty a guy has in remaining pure when looking at a girl who is dressed immodestly. Now I don’t want to dictate your wardrobe, but honestly speaking, I would be blessed if girls considered more than fashion when shopping for clothes. Yes, guys are responsible for maintaining self control, but you can help by refusing to wear clothing designed to attract attention to your body.
I know the world tells you that if you have a nice body, you should show it off. And we men have only helped feed this mentality. But I think you can play a part in reversing this trend. I know many girls who would look great in shorter skirts or tighter blouses, and they know it. But they choose to dress modestly. They take the responsibility of guarding their brother’s eyes. To these women and others like them, I’m grateful.”

Without question, the modern swimsuit has created a new spectator sport called girl watching. Men understand this better than anyone. It is incredibly distracting to have an immodestly dressed female nearby.
So yes, I have changed my mind about swimwear. It happened a few years ago, particularly after I read Jeff Pollards book and began examining the scriptures. Above are the reasons I feel that at least in my area of supervision, that there are different standards of modesty than you see on the beach and the swim parties. Biblical teaching on modesty, clothing, nakedness, and temptation are enough for me to be more careful that I have been in the past.
So, here are some guidelines that I believe are consistent with the biblical teaching on modesty and clothing and nakedness. So, if you are swimming here in my domain, here are some suggestions. Women, should wear a shirt and shorts over their bathing suits. There should be an effort to cover the details. For men, I ask for shirts or some kind of upper body covering. And, obviously, no speedos!
As Jeff Pollard has rightly said, anyone who takes on this subject will either be accused of being a libertine or a legalist. I realize this and pray that all of us, in the midst of this “wicked and perverse generation”, will seek to be affected by the Word of God more than anything else.

Today's Tea Time Thursday focus was on the root of whining (or complaining, grumbling, murmuring or also known as belly aching) really is. I found an article that was perfect for this topic just this morning. This was appropriate since we are finding that there is more whining going on in our home in this season... meaning the cold winter months. Seems being locked in because of the weather tends to bring about a discontent spirit, so to nip it in the bud I put aside our Bright Lights for this week and made a couple of copies of this article, along with lots of scripture refs on complaining/whining to help us combat this bad spirit threatening to turn into a bad habit! This week I'm going to focus on one particular part of the

study, Evidences to Watch For. This was a

chart that compared the whether or not one

is Fearing man or Elohim. This is just a partial listing of what

was in the chart.

Fearing Man

Will be concerned with your own reputation

Will be self-conscious

Will try to wear the latest fads and brand names in order to 'fit in'

Will not be able to stand alone

Will draw attention to yourself by exaggerating, bragging, talking about yourself, etc

Will dress and act differently according to the group of people you're with

Fearing Elohim

Will be concerned about YHWH reputation

Will remember that you are a representative of YHWH

Will dress and look in a way that pleases YHWH even if you look different that others

Will speak for the edification of others

Will be committed to standing with Messiah for the truth

Will do what is right no matter who you are with

Needless to say this comparison brought

on a thought provoking discussion in which

I was surprised at my girls responses.

They are realizing that they need to stand alone if need be

and that everything about their lives is centered

around YHWH.

As it should be.

Developing a Disciplined Walk with Elohim

This post is a little late, we had another TTT last week on

12/09/10 we are now on lesson four of Bright Lights.

This is a true story of a young boy of eleven who

was oyster hunting with his family.

Mid morning he came across a complete oyster

shell, it was dead and empty except

for a foreign object in it.

The boy was able to remove the the object and threw

it out in to the waters. Midway through the air he realized

what it was he thrown away and frantically searched for

the pearl, his family joined in but alas it was gone, never

to be found.

This is how our lesson began, a young boy focused on a

common shell throws away something of

much greater value.

And often times this is how it is with us, the

people of YHWH, we're so focused on

worldly things that we end up throwing away

the most precious thing of all...

a relationship with YHWH and his son Yahushua.

The lesson goes on to explain how Yahushua is

our one true friend and that we should

make a set time to meet with him on a daily basis to read,

study and pray. The only way we will know his

voice is if we spend time with him.

There assignment was to keep a record of their daily

time with the Master.

Suggestions for daily time:

set a specific time
find a quiet, private place
use your own scriptures
use a scripture reading plan

Simple suggestion for Study:

pray and ask YHWH to enlighten you to his truth
ask YHWH for a verse for the day
ask questions while reading
be alert while reading
record thoughts and scriptures
use Scriptures as prayers
dont' be just a hearer of the word, but a doer

Memorize the word:

start with just a verse or two and work up to paragraphs and finally try to memorize a whole book. It's possible many people have done it, why not you!

Suggestions for Meditation:

personalize it by adding your own name
pray scripture
quote scripture, emphasizing different words each time
put music to a verse
picture each word in your mind
meditate at night as your going to sleep

My girls have already started their quiet time.

We read Torah together, but they are to seek

YHWH to show them what to read during

their fellowship time with Him.

AbbyYah is reading through Proverbs

and YahChanna is in the book of Revelation

and both are excited about what he is showing them, so far

he has given them a scripture each day to meditate on...

oh how exciting it is!!

Honey, make a key lime pie

Yep, it's my husband favorite pie. And it's one of the
easiest to make:

Ingredients:graham cracker crust pie, store bought or homemade
2 cans of sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup of sour cream
3/4 cup key lime juice, freshly squeezed or store bought
1 tablespoon grated lime zest

Directions:(1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)
(2) In a medium bowl, combine condensed milk, sour cream, lime juice, and lime rind. Mix well and pour into graham cracker crust.
(3) Bake in preheated oven 5 to 8 minutes, until tiny pinhole bubbles bust on the surface of pie. DO NOT BROWN! Chill pie thoroughly before serving. Garnish with lime slices and whipped cream if desired.

Mama's Mission #2

November's Mission accomplished!

I not only knitted two wash cloths, 'drum roll please...'
Four Wash Cloths,
Two Ski Caps
and started on
Fingerless Gloves
yes, I know amazing! I though so too!
That half an hour a night was quite productive,
I think I'll add it as a permanent appointment :-)

My mission of December will be,

to continue to knit 1/2 hour each night

and write one letter or send one

card to someone I know each week

of this month.

No e-mails, this has to be a written

card/letter and I'll be praying about to whom

it should go and what should be

said in it.

You'll Be Missed Aunt Lola!

This is a sad post... my Aunt Lola passed on Friday. My mom told me yesterday. She actually slipped into a comma on Tuesday after going without oxygen for over 30 min. They put her on life support, it was her wishes to be remove from life support if she ever would need it. So her adult children granted her desire. She lived just a few short hours after removing life support. There was test run to assure that she was in fact brain dead... the test were conclusive.

I love you Aunt Lola and you will be missed by your family.

P.S. Aunt Lola was my favorite Aunt and I have very happy memories of her and I :-)

When I pondered on the prophets of old, they were

persecuted, hated, despised, rejected and often

times imprisoned or put to death...

these prophets did not speak their own words but

the words of Yah... so often we Torah submissive

people of Yah are also called judgemental legalist...

may I not flinch at such accusation but stand

on the Truth of Your Word oh Yah!!

Collars, Zippers, and Pockets

The girls sewing project for this week is to sew

a dress with a collar, zipper, and pockets

We used a Common Sense Pattern

They did very well for the first time sewing

collar, zipper, and pockets.

The collar is what posed the problem, it being so curved

both girls had a hard time sewing it... "momma, I need

help! "

I ended up sewing in one sleeve to demonstrate how it was

done and sewing the collar together but they

actually sewed the collar on the dress.

I thought the zipper would be a challenge but it

turned out to be quite easy for them.

I had them press the back the seam allowance, then

lined up the teeth of the zipper with the edge of the pressed

seam allowance. After pinning the zipper to the fabric I

had them hand stitch the zipper in with large stitches

for easy removal. Then the final step was to sew

the zipper in... "Momma, the zipper was so easy!"

Zippers were nightmares when I learned, I think the

extra step of hand stitching it in helps.

men in my life... my husband, brother, step-son and dad.

I have found some nice navy blue yarn to start on it right away...

We Stand with Israel

Israel, our Jewish brothers, we want you to know we stand with you.

We are Ephraim, your brother.

We may look different, but we serve the same Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

We read the same Torah portion to our children.

We are learning the same Hebrew language.

We eat kosher.

We celebrate the same holy feasts as you.

We keep the seventh day Shabbat.

We wear the same tzitziyot.

We pray the same Amidah.

We teach our children the Shema.

We love you and we support you.

When you are blessed, we are blessed.

When you are cursed, we are cursed.

We pray for you, we speak in your defense, and we will fight for you.

Shema Yisrael, YHVH Eloheinu. YHVH Echad.

We are one.

It is time to stand together and see the salvation of YHVH!

Clearing Your Conscience

Acts 24:16
“And in this I exercise myself to have a clear conscience toward Elohim and men always.

This was the Lesson for Bright Lights this week, gaining a clear
conscience before El and men.

They girls learned that there are three main

reason to clear one's conscience:

Because we all must stand before the Creator
To avoid failure
To maintain a good name before men

They also learned there are three types of conscience:

A dead conscience; one who doesn't seem to
see that they have done wrong
A guilty conscience; this one knows they've done
wrong, but make excuses for the wrong
A clear conscience; this one humbley excepts their
responsibility for the wrong they committed and
humbly confesses their wrong.

There are wrong and right ways to clear one's conscience let's

start with the right way:

Start with listing all the people you can remember offending including El
Confess these offenses to Yahweh, agreeing with him that they
are indeed sins.
Resolve to make it right by seeking forgiveness from those you hurt.
Set a time period when you want to do this and keep it... the sooner the better
Be sincere with a humble spirit, people can see through
the pretence... if you don't have a sincere heart about this don't
do it till you do. Pray and ask Yah to help you in this.
Take responsibility for your actions, don't blame them for
any of it. It's good to plan your words beforehand. And
sometimes they won't forgive be ready for that too.
If they choose not to forgive you, you have done what is
required of you, you have gained your clear conscience.

Here are the wrong ways:

"I was wrong, but you were wrong too..."
"If I was wrong, I'm sorry."
" It wasn't my fault, but I'm sorry you got hurt."
"Sorry"
"Since you get offended to easily, I guess I'll have to ask our forgiveness"

In these example the person is not taking ownership in the

wrong they committed, they are blaming the other person. To gain

a clear conscience one has to take responsibility for their actions, be truly repentant, which in turn

will manifest it's self through a humble spirit.

Finishing the lesson up with a few audio testimonies of girls

their own age who discovered that exercising

a clear conscience helps to resolve conflicts,

renew relationships, give opportunity to

practice humility, strengthens one to
overcome the next temptation to offend,

and when exercising a good conscience one

become a bright light in a dark world.

The girls made their own list and are learning

how to exercise a clear conscience before

Yahweh and other people!

Excellent Lesson, I too learned a lot from it and will

begin to exercise a clear conscience in my life!!

Ashsten's Night of Blessings

Sunday was the renewed moon, our Night of Blessings, but

the honouree was not able to make it on Sunday night...

so, we rescheduled it for Tuesday night being that was the

night she was free.

Ashsten Nicole my oldest daughter was

to the honoured guess at our

Night of Blessings

She didn't know the dinner was for her, she

just thought she was eating over.

!!Surprise!!

(Joseph was blowing the shofar, let the celebration begin...)

The royal blue plate and glass was her place setting...

because pink is her favorite color.

Knitting 2 on 1... Toe Up!!

I've learned a new method of knitting 2 socks on 1 circular needle.

Yes, now after finishing one sock I no longer have to

motivate myself to complete the second... YAY!!

I love knitting socks, but once finished with the new design

I wanted to move on to the next fun design to knit... thus I often had

one sock finished and the other waiting to be finished.

Since finding Silver's Sock Pattern site one sock syndrome is

a thing of the past for me!! Oh and not only did I learn how to knit a pair on one

needle, but I also learned to knit TOE UP which I

thought would be tough but really once I understood what

it was she wanted me to do it was a breeze.

Here is a pic of the two socks I was finishing up... they were

"I Love You" socks for my oldest daughter.

Here is the finished socks... she must not have had them pulled up

right because it looks like one is longer than the other

which it isn't the case, because when you knit the socks at the same time,

you knit one side of sock 1 you move to sock 2, so

there is no way of knitting more rows on
one sock, it looks off but it wasn't.

I made these for her 'Night of Blessings' that's why they

have hearts on them and are titled "I love you" socks.

Momma and Me Journals

Momma & Me Journal's is something I've been wanting

to do for some time now and just kept

forgetting about it...

What is a Momma & Me Journal you ask, well

I learned about them a couple years back and I loved

the idea. It's a journal or notebook

you keep with your child/ren. Each child

has their own they share with you.
Mama Jenn describes it like

Pen Pals but without the envelope & stamp.

Yeah it's like that. It a journal that your child

write letters in with questions, thoughts, songs, poems,

ideas, hopes, dreams and sometime things

that bug them. And you in turn

respond to their letter. Or you write down

a poem or song that you cherish.

It's another tool to help

build the relationship, to cement the

bond between the two of you.

To strengthen the cords of love!

They are real easy to make, just purchase a comp book,

create a label, print it off, glue it on or use db back tape (which was my choice)

and then cover it with clear contact paper.
Mama Jenn has a couple of

labels you can print off

if your not into creating them or

just don't have the time too

Momma Jen has posted an intro letter:

Instead of mailing letters to each other, we can keep them here in this notebook.

Just write about whatever is on your mind! :-)

So each girl was hiding the journal from the other, it was so

cute. Each one felt very special and both were

The Ninth Month

Rosh Chodesh Sameach!

Another re-newed moon was spotted by several

fellow believers last nigh, unfortunately we weren't

one of them :-(

However, we still are blessed to see

another new month of the creator, the ninth month

which will bring in the traditional celebration of
Hannukkah! This is not an appointed
moedim but one we do celebrate, although

not as most do. I'll post on this

celebration later :-)

Obey Your Parents for this is GOOD

Today's lesson in Bright Lights was about developing a relationship with your parents.

We learned that being under authority is not a 'BAD' thing, actually
we find in the word it was considered a 'GOOD' thing...

Romans 13:1-5Let every being be in subjection to the governing authorities.
For there is no authority except from Elohim, and the authorities that exist are appointed by Elohim.

So he who opposes the authority withstands the institution of Elohim,
and those who withstand shall bring judgment on themselves.

For those ruling are an object of fear, not to good works, but to evil.
Do you wish to be not afraid of the authority?
Do the good, and you shall have praise from it,

for it is a servant of Elohim to you for good. But if you do evil,
be afraid, for it does not bear the sword in vain. For it is a servant of Elohim,
a revenger to execute wrath on him who practises evil.

Therefore, it is necessary to be subject, not only because of
wrath but also because of the conscience.

They learned that being under authority brings

many benefits, protections from harm and evil in both the natural and spiritual.

Provision
Protection
Training
Correction

All these are the responsibility of the parents.

The scripture, "Children obey your parents in Yahweh; for this is right.

Honour your father and mother; which is

the first commandment with promise;

That it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."

ends with a promise, that is will go well with you, that

your life will be blessed!!

We listened to a couple of testimonies as well as read a

few. This is always an encouraging time

to hear and read about struggles, trials,

and test that other girls their age goes through.

There were several suggestions on how to

give their hearts to their parents:

Look for ways to Honor them
let them know your thankful
welcome them in your life, pray together,
share your dreams, failures, and hopes with them.
Ask them for their advice and opinions, listen
and follow their directions and cautions.
Never keep secrets from them (well except for gift giving type)
Trust them, don't fear them
keep a clear conscience with them
obey cheerfully
look for ways to serve them
be available when they need you

One of the most important points she makes in this lesson

is the difference between submission and obedience:

Submission being the attitude of the heart

and

Obedience being the action.

If we are obeying with a bad attitudes this is

not good; this grieves our parents and

then brings chaos rather than shalom.

Happy homes are where all the family members have

learned to serve each other cheerfully.

We talked about this quite extensively today.

As we examined our lives we did find that when
we were quick to obey in a cheerful spirit we
felt the rewards of joy, compared to the
the drudgery of disobedience, which brought forth strife, frustrations
and over all sour feelings.

We learned that Yahweh's beauty is not measured by

the outward adorning of ourselves but is the meek and

gentle spirit that is of a great price in the sight of Yah
1 Peter 3:4

The world often calls beauty the ornaments that one wears,

make-up, jewelry, clothes, and the like. Where as
Yahweh says beauty is obedience with a submissive spirit.

1 Peter 3:5 says it like this:

For in this way, in former times, the set-apart women who trusted in
Elohim also adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands,

Their adorning was being submissive to their

own husband which was their authority.
And we are to use these women of old as

our examples.

Obedience with submission doesn't come easy.

It has to be practiced and there is not

no better way to practice than to be

tested in this area. She admonishes

the girls to gird their minds up and

to begin to prepare themselves for these

test to come.

At the end of the lesson their is a commitment sections for

the girls to commit themselves to obey in a submissive manner

and there is an extra project to go with this.

Oh yeah, we had a lunch/tea time, today.

We left the tea party

Mama's Mission Oct/Nov

Well I did it! I completed my first mama's mission... guiding my girls through

sewing their own nightgowns and they did very well!! Both

girls are wearing them as I type. I'll try to post pics

soon. I would like them both to do a little sewing

every night not much just 1/2 hour or so. Their next

project dresses :-)

I've been want to knit some face and dish

cloths but never seem to make the time...

soooo... my mission for November is to make

time to knit at least two face/wash cloths.
I'd also like to commit on working at least 1/2 hour
on my Missions each night so I won't

be rushing (like today) to complete it!!

I would like to make this one for my brother... my super brother!!
When he was just a wee fella, he love Superman, my mom
found a Superman outfit for him and she said
when he would put it on nothing could stop him
be it big brother or the bully down the street. So I thought
it fun to knit him a Super Hero Face Cloth :-D

Night Gowns

The girls current sewing projects are Night Gowns,

has just finished cutting out her pattern, tomorrow she'll

be sewing it together. We're aiming to finish both gown

tomorrow so that I can complete my 'mama's mission' for this month

Ok, so I haven't been very diligent with this commitment... start over...

lol, on our 15th week of school, we took two weeks off for Sukkot.

Scriptures:

We were going to follow the Parsha but then

came across The Greenleaf Guide to Old Testament History

and went with it.

This week the girls covered The Flood, The Rainbow and Yah's Covenant,

The Tower of Babel,

and finishing this week up with

Abram called to leave his home, winds up in Egypt

Character:

We are starting up with our Tea Time Thursdays again,

it's been a couple of years since we last

had a tea time, so on Thurs we

had one. We are starting a new

curr called Bright Light

and we read and discussed Lesson One

Be Strong for Yahweh in Your Youth, both

girls made a commitment to walk in Torah

and gave their lives to Yahweh a few weeks ago,

so this study just reinforced what they had already done.

World History:

The time period they are reading about now is the desert wondering of Israel,

however this weeks reading is covering the

happenings in Egypt while the children of Yisrael

are in the wilderness. They learned of

Sesorstris or sometimes called Rameses the Great, this is

the time when Egypt and Assyria were

the great nations of the world.

Hebrew:
Our Hebrew is progressing rather slowly... still they are learning new words...
the challenge is retaining the words...

Music Lessons:

If you kept up with our curr, you'ld remember we

were learning the Recorder, however, our first choice was

the Guitar. At the time we didn't have a nice one, so

we went with the recorder. Now that we have

a nice Guitar the girls (mom and dad too) are learning

the Guitar. The girls already know several cords and

songs but I'm still having them go through the Lessons.
They are on less 3 & 4.

Hebraic Dance:

The girls have learned several steps:

Miyim or the Grapevine
Terkasia
Yemanite
Hopping Box
Coupe

With these five steps many dances are choreographed.

they can dance with:

These are the Days of EliYah

They are also choreographing their own dances.

That's it for this week, I wish I had pics to add
but I think I paced my camera away with the camping

gear...oy... now I'm going to have to go through

Be an example...

This weeks TTT focused on 'being an example of the followers of Messiah' based

on 1 Timothy 4:12
Le no man despise your youth; but be an example
of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit,
in faith, in purity.

We talked about how the world typifies and expects

the average teenager to go through a rebellious stage and

how we as the people of Yahweh don't have to

fit into that mold, but we are to allow Messiah to

shine through us, or die to our own selfish ways, and

allow Messiah to live in us. So in doing

we don't have to conform to this world but are

transformed by the renewing of our mind, or thought

patterns. If we think we have to go through

a rebellious stage we most likely will. But if we

think or discipline our minds and flesh to walk

in the light as he is in the light we can be

bright lights in a dark world, we can be

examples of the followers of Messiah.

We also learned that the enemy of our souls

will lay traps for us, not just any o'trap but

one like barbs in a fishing hook. Once you've

found yourself in his trap it's very hard to loose

yourself... like a fish caught on a hook, the more the fish

struggles to get free the more the barbs are set into the fish's flesh.

We discussed how it is so much easier to recognize the traps

and avoid them, rather than struggle to get

free from them.

We also read and listened to a couple of

testimonies from young girls who committed

their live to Yahweh to follow the Messiah and

how their lives were changed.

This lesson was taken from Bright Lights Lesson One
We continued to talk, laugh and pray

enjoying fellowship and bonding our

love and relationships with each other.

Sukkot 2010

If you read my earlier post you know that I've misplaced my camera
(I refuse to say I LOST it)
Because of this I have postponed blogging

about our Sukkot.
Then yesterday in my e-mail was the Fourniers Family Update

letter and in it Sukkot Pics... yay!! So, I've used some of their pics

to compliment my Sukkot blog post.

Something you need to know is that this was Joseph's

first camping trip, so he knew

nothing of putting up a tent. This is

where the hand of Yah came in using

the brothers that were already there.

They came over without any request on our part

to help put up the tent. Our tent is a nice large

one and they had it up in about 15 minutes or

it could have been less. How grateful Joseph was!

While we were setting up our camp site, Kelly Fournier came

over to introduce herself and welcome us. Such a sweet sister.

Later we were given gifts from our neighbors the Schminkes, two lovey
hand crafted welcome cards, scrumptious pumpkin cookies from

Hailey, and wonderful dehydrator (which I have used several

times and my family thanks Pamela every time they enjoy

their dehydrated goodies!)

That evening at sunset was the first day of Sukkot. We gathered

around the Fourniers campsite for some time

of worship, testimonies, and fellowship.

How sweet it was.

Each day of the week was wonderful, but I
would have to say the highlight for me
was the fellowship, worship and dancing

This Sukkot gathering was an answer to many of
my prayers. I knew the direction Yah is leading us, but
sometimes one needs to see it to comprehend it.
So it was for my family. I know one day we
will have land and be living off the grid, I know
one day we will be working on our land
for our own food, I knew how we as a
family are to live together. But to articulate this
to my family was another thing. My husband
didn't fancy the idea of living off the grid,
my girls never realized how beautiful
dressing modestly was, how lovely
serving others could be,
how music, dance, and worship can
bind us together in unity.

what a wonderful new and exciting journey
they discovered.

Yahweh had divinely placed us amongst believers who
lived all this and my family saw and
beheld the beauty of it all.

So profound were we effect by this family and families
that my older daughter has had a complete change
in attitude and desire to live for Yahweh
I have renewed hope and an example of
the fruits of surrender will produce.

After returning home both my girls
decided on their own to wear head coverings.
At first I thought it was because the other girls at
the gathering wore them. As I inquired as to
this sudden desire I found that my girls
have made a commitment to walk
in the ways of Torah. No longer
did they obey Torah because
Momma and Daddy said to,

But they have decided,

to obey because they saw
what true holiness was.
When they were asked by their older sister
(who doesn't live at home) why

they were covering, the answer
was, because we want to show that
we are in submission to daddy and
Yahweh. My girls no longer say
"...because our parents say we have too..."

but, "because we want to walk
in the ways of Yahweh"

What a joy to my heart to hear that!!

There is dancing in our home, there is singing, and worship,

there is striving to love and serve each other...

we had wonderful examples at Sukkot
that we brought home with us and are

striving to follow...

She was infected with a bug and we all
were infected with love, new friendships,
and sweet memories...

Our New Tradition

I wanted to post some pics of our Sukkot gathering, but have missed placed my camera :-( I'm hoping it wasn't lost at the camp grounds. So instead of a Sukkot post I'll share a new 'family tradition' we have adopted from a precious family we met at the gathering.

The tradition is called 'Night of Blessings' and on each new moon we plan of lavishing blessings on each other or on a chosen family member. The blessings can come in the form of a song, poem, letters or small hand crafted item, however the poem or letter is what we are encouraging.

Tonight was our first night of blessings. Joseph and I exchanged letters and the girls exchanged letters. We read the Blessings to each other, it was very beautiful!!

I would like to share just a small portion of

And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of

those things which were told her from Yahweh.

I shared with Joseph the peace I have knowing

he goes to Yahweh and waits before making

decisions that will effect our lives.

AbbiYah pronounce the

Aronic blessing on YahChanna

in Hebrew.

And YahChanna let AbbiYah know how

much she appreciates her willing and cheerfully

helping her when she asks.

Next month we plan on showering my

oldest daughter with letters of Blessing

and a dinner in her honor.

a beautiful sister who shared with

us one way she bonds her

family together...

Pumpkin Pie Pudding

Found this recipe here

Ingredients:1 can (15 ounces) solid-pack pumpkin

1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup biscuit/baking mix

2 eggs, beaten

2 tablespoons butter, melted

2 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Whipped topping, optional

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Transfer

to a 3 qt. slow cooker coated with cooking spray. Cover

and cook on low for 6-7 hours or until a thermometer reads 160 degrees.

Serve in bowls with whipped topping if desired. Yields 6 servings

Pumkin Pie Spice Mix

This will give you 2 teaspoons full

Ingredients:
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon all spice

Biscuit/Baking Mix Recip

This makes a small portion, I found this recipe a here which give you a 12 serving size recipe. I reduced mine to just one serving size:

Ingredients:

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons of shortening

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients. cut in shortening

until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Store in a n airtight container

in a coo dry place or in the freezer for up to 8 months

This month it's my goal to sit down with each girl and assist them in sewing night gowns. We've had this project on the shelf since last month. Our First!!

we had our first Sukkot with the brethren... it was more than I could have dreamed!! Father blessed us to attend a gathering about an hour and half from our home. We met the most wonderful people!! I'm exhausted right now but I'll wright more when I fully rested and can think clearly :-b

A Key of Freedom

I just finished reading a wonderful post that I feel would release many of my sister's in Messiah from the bondage of guilt and shame.

Many women would like to homeschool their children but because their husbands disagree they end up sending their precious children to public school, then carry guilt or shame about this.

And there are many sisters who are convicted to cover and yet their husband or father's don't agree and again often they bear shame or guilt for not being able to walk in this.

And let us not forget about the sisters who desires to stay home and raise her blessings, but because of finances or a spouse who desires other wise, she must leave her family and go out in the work force.

Dear sisters, if you find yourself carrying guilt or shame because of one of these three situation I just mention please visit Beit Simcha to read about how the Heavenly Father has seen your heart of love and given you a way out of your prison of guilt or shame.

And if you're a sister that is suffering from guilt or shame because your unable to walk in a conviction that I didn't list, you also should visit Beit Simcha, for perhaps the Father has provided a way out for you too!

TOBY the new school year

This has officially be our second week of school.

I'm going to try and be more diligent about post a TOBY report this year,

at least make a post every two weeks.

This is part of the girls curr. It's based on the Robinson Curr except
I chose different books to read.

The girls have said that they have already learned so much,
and they're enjoying it!!

We've decided to learn the 50 most poisonous plants
this year, one each week.
These plants will kill you, there are many plants
that will make you sick, sick enough to put you
in a hospital, but these plants will put
you in the ground.

We want to learn to identify these so there will be no
accidental consumption of them.

Some of the plants are the most beautiful we seen,

This plant is known as the monkshood or wolf's bane...

deadly!!

We are starting a new reading cycle of the Torah Portion, the girls read
Torah for an hour a day, then write about what they read.

This is their Book of Centuries, another first for them,
along with their writing they also will keep
record of important and exciting events that
has happened in history, starting with the creation week.

The first and second day of creation...

day three and four,

day five and six, AbbiYah isn't finished with coloring
this page and is yet to start drawing the seventh day...

They are also learning a musical instrument and yet another first for
them. They were so excited to actually learn
a song on the first day. Mary had a Little Lamb.

There was much more they learned but these were just
a few of the
highlights of the last two weeks.

The Pet Store and Chirpping Birds

The Pet Store

On a misty, but clear, in the heat of the day,

I saw birds in the skies, and the skies were light gray,

My parents and I were walking in town,

We saw restaurants, and food stores, and lots of fair grounds,

But in the fair grounds something caught my eye,

It was the small little Pet Store that was closely, near by,

We went in the Pet Store, and guess what I saw,

I saw lizards, and birds, and rats, and small frogs,

I saw these small creatures, and I'll tell you their names,

I saw anoles, long tails, and skinks in their cage;

I saw the dove, the finch, the grakle, and the parrot,

I saw the chinchillas, the rabbits, the hamsters, and the farrets,

This all seemed like an animal zoo,

But their were no, lions, no tigers, and no kangaroos,

We stayed there for hours, till the sky darken night,

It was time to go home, we had had, our delight!

Chirpping Birds

Well, one of the books on our curr list hasn't made the cut. The Night Journey by Kathryn Lasky. In the first couple of chapters the main character a 13yr Jewish girls uses the "d" word several times and as I began to scan the book she appears to have a problem with being disrespectful to her elders...so I see that the last minute add-ons will need to be read or scanned...too bad I thought this book had a great message!

Want to be challenged?

Today I was visiting some of my favorite blogs and Home Shalom was one of them. Pamela is a great sister in the family of Yahweh and she is always sharing very informative and thought provoking post. I was checking out her reviews topic and came across this post, Paperclips I have come to value her recommendations so I went ahead and rented the documentary through amazon.

The movie was a very challenging one for me personally. Of coarse I didn't realize how this wonderful film would challenge me until it was nearly over. Basically it's about an 8th grade class of student in a rural area of TN (my home state) learning about the Holocaust, intolerance, and prejudice. I did not believe I was an intolerant nor prejudice person, I mean come on I'm married to an African American man and Israel is my family, that's why it was so important for my family to experience this documentary, because it was what happened to our people. I can't recall the man's name but he was the male teacher of the two teacher team. He said several times he had to face that fact that he was prejudice. He didn't think he was prejudice but the more he study and as time progress it had become clear to him that in fact he was.

Wow, to think your alright and then to find out your so off target, the Word is right when it says Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?...we can be deceived by our hearts for in Proverbs 28:26 says that we are foolish if we trust our own heart. And so this evening I found how true these two scripture were, for in one moment, in one line of that documentary I found that my heart had deceived me, I found wickedness in my heart, I found pride and prejudice.

It was towards the end of the movie and they were dedicating the rail car that would hold over 11 million paperclips. The Principle of the school was delivering the dedication speech.."and 6 million paperclips are for the 6 million Jewish people that were murdered, and the other 5 million were for the homosexuals, Gypsies...", Homosexuals! What? I was furious as I turned to my husband and said, "since when did homosexuality have anything to do with the Holocaust? "

...and then I heard the scriptures say, 1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

and

Eze 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Yahweh Elohim, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

So, why was it so offensive to me that they would include homosexuals in the Holocaust? Because I too had prejudice in my heart as well. Were they any less then the Jewish people? Are we not all sinners? What! did Messiah die for all, except them? These are questions that I need to ask myself. Messiah did die for ALL even Hitler, but not all will be saved and this he takes not pleasure in for it is his will that all should be saved!

How painful it was for me to face that I thought I was better than them. It's not only a prejudice problem but a pride problem, oh Yahweh cleanse this heart of mine...for you died for the homosexual too. It was not the lifestyle of any of the Holocaust victims that was being remembered but the fact that every life has value and has a right to live even if that life chooses to live a life against Messiah. For he loved those that loved him not, and I can be found at the beginning of the line.

I have been on a quest that I might see my heart, oh search my heart Yahweh...purge me and cleanse me and I will be clean. Teach me to love the unlovable and to show mercy and kindness to those who don't deserve it because you have shown mercy and kindness to me one who doesn't deserve it...Yahweh...forgive me for not distinguishing the sin from the sinner. Forgive me for not allowing you to live in me, through me, and reach out and love the unlovable.

I choose not to be enraged when I see or hear wicked acts, but I choose to look beyond the act and see the chains and show mercy, and pray. Pray for them rather than be repulsed by them, I mean who am I that I should have such an attitude? Oh how I have deceived myself...May Yahweh have mercy on this soul!

Ok, I watched this again this pm and it wasn't during the dedication that the statement about the homosexuals was stated, it was before the dedication while they were dividing up the paperclips and housing them in the rail car.

Happy Re-newed moon!

We weren't able to see the re-newed moon sliver last night, too much cloud coverage...

However, others have spotted it so we now have entered into

the fourth month of Yahweh's Calender.

This month has no 'biblical' name found in the scriptures,

so we refer to it as the 'forth' month.

We don't use the name 'Tammuz' because it is a

pagan deity...

Recording Molts

I tried to measure her but with the molt

came a burst of excess energy...

she/he wouldn't sit still long

enough for me to even get a

guesstimating...let alone a

decent picture.

Our First Ourdoor Hour Challenge # 1

I have come across several families

using the Outdoor Hour as part of

their HS curr. I finally checked it

out, and the girls wanted to do it.

So this is Challenge #1We found it difficult to be

quiet about all the wonderful things

we discovered, perhaps

next time we contain ourselves :-b

We visited a park near by, this park is not new to us,

but it was like the first time for us because we

were observing, listening and taking in

all we could.

The first thing we observed was FROGS!

Frogs, frogs everywhere, it was like we stepped

into the pages of Exodus, everywhere we stepped

little frogs would leap and jump...we were trying to

be so careful not to crush any

then we came across this little guy, he was about 1 cm in size
we thought at first we has a frog that had not lost it tail
but with a closer inspection the head
looked like a grasshoppers, it had what looked like
folded wings, there didn't seem to be any
hopper legs, but only four legs...strange indeed!

We tried to get a pic of his face but he just
kept turning his back to us...

then we came across an empty oyster shell

the girls walking (as quietly as possible)

We came across this huge tree trunk, next time
we go we are taking a large string to measure
things with. Once home we will measure
the cut strings :-)
our next find was a spider hanging out on it's

web (a fisher spider?)

the local ducks gathering around,

oh, poor little thing...we came across this

little fellow, all alone with his head tucked

into his feathers. When we walked closer

he didn't move...his eyes look very weak.

I believe he was sick, very sick.
We said a prayer to Yahweh to help him

This is the last discovery. A beautiful mushroom.

I made up some Nature Journals for the girls

For the last two years we have kept
baby mantis to observe as

they molt and grow.

It started as a school project....

but now in our third year of keeping a mantis it is
no longer a 'project' but has become a
family tradition.

ahhh...look at that face...so cute!!
This little one ( 0.7 cm) was given to us by
a sweet friend, Ms. Bea.

Two days later we get a knock
on our door and Ms. Bea with her hands fold up,

says, "here take it..."
Another mantis much larger ( 2.03 cm ) but still in
the nymph stage...

We're hoping this one is a female and the smaller

one a male...yes, we could mate them is they

are the same species, which I think they are.

Then we could save their egg sack (oothecae)

until next year, however we're a little reluctant
to mate them because often the female
will eat the male and we don't want that...
it's too sad :-(

Disputable Matters

Romans 14:1 says "Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters." Note carefully the phrase, "disputable matters" - it is key to understanding what Paul is really talking about.

Disputable matters are just that - matters that can be argued or debated or disputed. These are things which arise out of man made tradition, borne out of man's opinions and leanings and not God's commandments. That is vital to understand.

Wild Violet

I haven't blogged about P & P curr because we put it on hold...

it was just too overwhelming for us. We wanted to do

all the activities and it was too much.

It's spring now and there are wild plants everywhere...so we decided to

go ahead and pick up where we left of last year.

Yesterday the girls searched out Wild Violets on

the Internet. They found so very informative

YouTube videos also.

They then wrote in their journals about what they learned

Today we went out harvesting wild violets. We found
them in a shaded cove with trees and bushes all
around. They were growing along side of Poison Ivy
so we were very careful when cutting them.

Loni @ Hearts in Training is starting a weekly HS Highlights for

Torah Observant Believers in Yahshua meme

which I thought was a great idea for us.

This week I created three different decks of cards:

Ancient Hebrew, Modern Hebrew, and Combination of both

Alef-Bet flash cards using PagePlus a free desktop publisher program.

My girls already know the modern Hebrew Alef-Bet
thanks to the Alef-Bet Video by Debbie Friedman
They're not familiar with the Ancient Hebrew.
We'll be playing several card games with these
decks, I'll share their favorite one which is called
'BAM' Throw all the cards in a bucket
or bowl. The first player picks a card from
the bucket and then says the name, sound and
the modern Hebrew letter equivalent to it.
If the answer is correct the player gets to keep
the card if not it goes back in the bucket. The game
continues with each player picking a card.
Now this is the FUN part, when a player
picks BAM he must then take all the
cards he has been collecting and put them in the
bucket and the next player picks.
My girls can play this game for hours and
never get tired!!

My girls wanted to join Girl Scouts but after
searching it out we found that they aren't
very Torah observant, so we began to
seek an alternative and through answered
prayer we found
Keepers of the Faith
they offer a handbook for boys
and girls to keep record of activities
to build skills and biblical character.

Broccoli Avocado Salad

OK, I'm love'n RAW BROCCOLI!!

I was craving broccoli but didn't want to juice it, so I did a google search
on broccoli salad, the results were very few RAW salads. There was a couple
I found but I didn't have allthe ingredients, so, I improvised (this is the story of my life)
I used what I had and someof what they called for. This is what I came up with:

1 cup of broccoli, chopped fairly small

2 cloves of finely chopped garlic

1 mashed avocado

2 tablespoons of cilantro

squeeze the juice from 1/2 a lemon

1/8-1/4 teaspoon of cumin

1/4 teaspoon salt

1-2 tablespoons of virgin olive oil

Toss well, eat and enjoy...I know I did!

extra note:

instead of throwing away the stringy stems

of the broccoli just peel away the outer

layer of the stems and chop up the remaining

inner stem, its soft yet firm and has lots

of nutrients your body will love.

Classic Kale and Avocado Salad

I'm loving this Spanish rice dish and Blended Salads are wonderful, but is there more?
Yes, I found this wonderful tasty salad (by the way I am not a salad lover unless it has cheese and tons of dressing; not healthy!) Here a a great video I found.

I just finished eating a bowl of this, it was so delicious!! Who would have thought of making salad out of KALE?? Not me! But I'm glad I came across this recipe!!

I'm loving Raw Food!!

Ok, so I've read Paul's book Raw Food which is very informative for a newbie like me :-b

I've tried his blended salad and was dazzled...but now I'm head over heals for raw food, why? because I just made a bowl of Spanish rice the raw way. Instead of rice Paul's recipe calls for grated cauliflower in a food processor (I don't have one yet, so I just used a hand grater).

I heard he is putting a raw recipe book together, I'm not sure if I heard this from him on one of his video's or someone else. If he is I'll be one of the first in line to buy it!!

I'm looking forward to making his strawberrie cheese cake....made out of cashews!!

Time for Spring Cleaning in more ways than one!

Passover will soon be upon us and we are in the mist of cleaning out the leaven in our home. We have nearly eaten everything up that contains leaven in it and are beginning our cleaning out leaven in our fridge, cabinets, toaster oven, etc.

We are also asking Yahweh to search our hearts...we need all the leaven in our heart out also. This is something we do, not only during this time but daily. However, especially during this season we want to take more time to examine our hearts in the light of Yahweh's word.

This morning as we were reading our daily readings; we are in the book of Exodus chapter 32 and 33, we read how Yisrael made a golden calf and had a festival for Yahweh, yes for Yahweh! We read how they offered sacrifices, ate, and rose to play. With music and dance did they have a celebration for Yahweh...

He was enraged by their sin, what sin? The sin of making an idol and using it in their worship to him...remember we are not learn the way of the heathen, do not worship me the way they worship their elohim!

We read how Moshe interceded for them, intercede so that he asked that his name be blotted out that their sins would not be held against them....

Yahweh's response "Everyone that sins against me, shall their name be blotted out of my book" Wow, that's pretty serious!

As we began to talk about this, we began to feel very convicted about our own personal sins...so much so that we all three desired to stop the devotion and go before Yahweh.

My daughter AbbyYah said, "Mama, we don't deserve to have our names in his book, we deserve to have them blotted out....mama, we want mercy and grace...sobs...but we don't want to give it to others who hurt us...more tears...the conviction was good for our souls! We need Messiah, just when we think we've got it, we stumble upon some leaven...how we need Messiah our Passover to cover the doorpost of our hearts, to ever make incession for us and to deliver us from the sin that so easily besets us.

It's true we don't deserve all he has done for us, it is our prayer as a family that this season of deliverance, of passing from bondage to freedom, will bring about a new heart for us all. That this year will be the year we can say, He brought us out! Each of us have our own 'sins' we need to confront, confess, and repent from...

This is the time for Spring Cleaning...Yahweh give me a clean heart and a right spirit within me...

Thanks to Lina @ A set apart life blog I learned about Paul Nison who is a Raw Food advocate but what's so wonderful about this is he bases his teaching on Torah AND he's a follower of Yahshua to boot!! I've been watching his video's and ordered one of his book. I got this BRAND NEW book for FIVE BUCKS yes, you read it right $5.00!! The book was actually a little over six bucks plus shipping and handling. I had an amazon coupon for five dollars...so what a blessing!!

I haven't read it yet just paged through, I'm so looking forward to having a quiet time so I can devoure it! I have already tried one of his recipes. I didn't get it out of the book though it is in there, I actually got it off of one of his video's here is the recipe:

BLENDED SALAD

1/2 cucumber

couple handfuls of spanich leaves

1 celery stick (stock)

1 garlic clove

1 tomatoe

1 avocado

squeeze 1/2 of lemon juice

things I added:

3 tblsp of ground up flax seed

1 tsp of virgin olive oil

blend all together less the avocado peel & seed

I had to add just a bit of water because it was really thick, but OH MY GOODNESS!!

This was the best stuff I have ever tasted!! I've been juicing now for about a month and NOTHING, I mean NOTHING compaires to this!! If you try nothing else RAW you have to try this. I'm gonna make his Spanish rice out of a head of califlower...I know it's gonna be GOOD!

My God Doesn't Change...Does Yours?

When I first started observing Torah nearly five months ago (it feels like years ago!), I began to see many Scriptural truths I had previously ignored.

For example, 1 Samuel 15:29 tells us that God does not lie, nor does He change His mind. Why? Because He isn't a mere human being. If we believe this verse to be true, then we cannot say that the Torah has been abolished. Doing so would be to call Yahweh a liar. Yet many Christians today seriously believe that is the case. And not too long ago, I did too...

I found an excellent resource to help explain better some misunderstood scriptures that would seem to support 'Sunday' worship. With a greater examination of these scriptures we can see that Sunday worship is not what is being admonished ...here is an excerpt of the article:

If you ever engage in discussions with Sunday keepers about the Sabbath, you will almost certainly be called on to answer six specific passages in the New Testament. Three of these are typically used in support of Sunday as the Sabbath. The other three are cited in an effort to show that there is no need to keep the Sabbath holy.

Let us look at the first three passages used in an effort to show that Sunday is the day of rest.

THE PASSAGE IN QUESTION…

•Acts 20:7: "And upon the first day of the week when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight."

Wrong interpretation—The common idea is that Paul was holding a Sunday worship service.

Proper explanation—Note that the word "day" is italicized in the King James Version, meaning it was added by translators. The phrase should properly read, "And upon the first of the…" The word "week" in the Greek is Sabbaton, or Sabbath, Strong’s Greek Dictionary. In Word Studies in the New Testament, M.R. Vincent notes, "The noun Sabbath is often used after numerals in the signification of a week" (Acts 20:7 note). The Greek text behind this phrase, therefore, literally reads "And upon the first of the Sabbaths."

First for what? The verse refers to the first weekly Sabbath in the seven-Sabbath (seven-week) count to Pentecost. Paul was moved to give a message on this day. This occurred following a regular meal that the disciples had enjoyed on a weekly Sabbath, not Sunday.

As long as they observe the Covenant, they are "ISRAEL". They don't "hold to the Testimony of Yahusha", so they are not "first-fruits" - but because of the Covenant they are ISRAEL.

Group #2: There are those who "hold to the Testimony of Yahusha", but DON'T observe the Commandments of Yahuah (the Covenant, or Torah). They feel that simply "believing" is all that is necessary -- anything beyond that is attempting to "save" themselves. They are also taught that the "Old Covenant" (Commandments) were "done away", or "nailed to the cross", and that only "Jews" have to obey the Covenant, the 10 Commandments. They feel they are "spiritual Israel" through their belief in Yahusha. Because of this, they are victims of "Replacement Theology", and we can see clearly that this group is not the "first-fruits" spoken of at Rev. 14 either. But, most dangerously, because they don't observe the Covenant, they are NOT ISRAEL, and therefore are not in any "Covenant relationship" with Yahuah in any way -- although they are taught that they are. They don't "obey the Commandments of Elohim", therefore they cannot be ISRAEL. Ephesians 2 explains that we become citizens of Israel through the Covenant, and Yahusha is the Mediator of it, writing it upon our hearts. This group must continue to believe in Yahusha, and ENGRAFT into ISRAEL by observing the Commandments of Yahuah, as He wrote them.

Group #3: Those who "obey the Commandments of Elohim AND hold to the Testimony of Yahusha" are the "first-fruits", and are called Natsarim (watchmen, branches), or Nazarene Israel. "foreigners" are "formerly Gentiles in the flesh"; but when they believe AND obey, they become ISRAEL -- they are NO LONGER GENTILES.

Veiled Heart

2 Corinthians 3: A veiled heart?

2Cor 3:1 (NKJV) Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you? 2 You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3 clearly you are an epistle of the Messiah, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living Elohim, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.
As a backdrop, Paul's point here is that they do not need to commend or recommend themselves. They do not need some letter of recommendation from them or anyone because the Corinthians themselves are an epistle or 'letter' of the Messiah which is written and read by all. They are the only 'letter' he needs. They do not need any commendation from man. Later in the epistle, he writes:
2Cor 10:18 For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom Yahweh commends.
This is also true of any believer in Yahushua. It is Yahushua the Messiah who commends us before all and before Yahweh. Let's not forget he is writing to Corinthians. In reality it is Yahushua the Messiah who founded the assembly (though through Paul) at Corinth in Acts 18.
4 And we have such trust through the Messiah toward Yahweh. 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from Yahweh,
So Paul recognizes that they themselves did not establish them, but in reality Yahushua in them established them and it is Yahweh that they are trusting in, through Messiah. Paul rightly gives glory to Yahweh.
6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
They are of ministers of the new covenant. Yahushua is the mediator of that covenant. Moshe's ministry was bringing the commandments. Yahushua's ministry is bringing righteousness.
It is true that the law condemns us, because we have not always kept it. In this sense, the letter (without the Spirit) only kills. We need justification through the righteousness of Yahweh in Yahushua the Messiah. Of course, now that we have been justified in Yahushua we ought not say it is acceptable to break the law again. It is for this reason Yahushua had to die for us in the first place.
7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away,
The ministry of Moshe had a certain glory. This glory (the ministry of condemnation) would pass away in favor of a greater glory, the ministry of righteousness through Yahushua.
8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels.
11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.
Something that remains/endures (Yahushua's ministry of righteousness) is going to have more glory than something that passes away (Moshe's ministry of condemnation). Please note that it is THE GLORY that is passing away (the ministry of death/condemnation), not Yahweh's standard of righteousness! The condemnation is passing away because we are made righteous in Yahushua, not because Yahweh took away the standard He expects us to live by.
The whole of Moshe's ministry was the giving of Yahweh's commandments. It is Yahweh's standard of righteousness, one that we have not lived up to. Therefore, just knowing His standard of righteousness does not justify us, but only condemns/kills us. But the ministry of Yahushua is one of SALVATION through Yahweh's righteousness. The ministry of salvation and His righteousness has much greater glory than the one that condemned us with the sentence of death.
12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech-- 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away.
Notice carefully in the above verse, Moshe kept the children of Israel from looking at "the end of what was passing away". What is called "the end of what was passing away"? What were the children of Israel looking at? Moshe's face, that had the lesser glory of Yahweh on it. This lesser glory was the 'end' (result) of what was passing away (Moshe's ministry of condemnation). See also verse 7 where this is first mentioned to confirm this.
Again, what is passing away is Moshe's ministry of condemnation with its glory, not Yahweh's standard of righteousness. It was the veil that prevented the children of Israel from seeing the full glory of Moshe's ministry (the ministry of condemnation which passes away in Messiah), which to us is outshone by the glory of Yahushua's ministry.
So the purpose of the veil that Moshe wore was: so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of the former and lesser glory (which was condemnation).
Unlike Moses who needed to put a veil on his face when giving Yahweh's commandments (His face shone), we need to let the greater glory (from the ministry of salvation through Yahushua the Messiah) shine when proclaiming Yahushua's ministry. Therefore, we can use "great boldness of speech".
14 But their minds were blinded.
A more correct translation here would be "hardened" (not blinded, see #4456). Why were the minds of that generation (the generation in the desert, not Ezra's generation) hardened? As a whole, that generation of the children of Israel did not believe and did not want to hear Moshe's words. Paul parallels that with the generation he was living in:
14 But their minds were blinded (hardened). For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in the Messiah.15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.
This same veil remains on the hardened hearts of those who read the Torah without accepting Yahushua. It should not remain, for the condemnation would cease and the veil could be removed if they would soften their hard hearts and believe in Yahushua. The present veil is evidence of their hardened heart because in Yahushua that veil is removed. I don't find scriptural evidence that the veil was an evil thing originally, otherwise Moshe sinned in putting on the veil. It seems to indicate that the veil was necessary, for Yahushua had not come yet. But if the veil is there now, it is evidence of one's hardened heart and rejection of Yahweh's Messiah.
16 Nevertheless when one turns to Yahweh, the veil is taken away.
If a person will truly turn to Yahweh from their heart, they will have that veil taken away. The law is just too holy, spiritual and righteous when we read it unless we have Yahweh's righteousness in us through His Messiah. But for those of us who have Yahushua, we can read the Torah and not expect condemnation.
17 Now Yahweh is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of Yahweh is, there is liberty.
Not liberty to sin again but liberty to come unto Yahweh without fear of condemnation if we have sinned.
18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of Yahweh, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of Yahweh.
The reason that we with an "unveiled face" are looking in a mirror at the glory of Yahweh is that the fullness of the Messiah's glory / righteousness is in us. When we look at the full glory of Yahweh, we see:

1. The lesser glory of Yahweh in the ministry of condemnation which was the 'light', the 'word', showing us our sin.
2. The greater glory of Yahweh in the righteousness of Yahushua the Messiah. (Which if we choose can be in us!)
As we grow in the Spirit, we see as in a mirror the full glory of Yahweh. In that mirror we see the light/the torah/the standard for righteousness, and therefore our sins. The light/the word (Yahushua) is what convicts us of our sins (but without death/condemnation). This is the lesser glory.
But also in that mirror we also see the righteousness of Yahushua in us, this is the greater glory! Therefore "as by the Spirit of Yahweh" we grow in His knowledge and become more and more obedient to His will, we are being transformed from "glory to glory" or from one glory to another by the Spirit of Yahweh.

What a wonderful 30 plus days it was. I found out that the Internet was taking too much time away from my family and projects that needed to get done :-(

Which lead me to the decision of not spending as much time blogging and surfing the net...

So, if you don't read new blogs it not that I forgot about it, it's just that I've re-adjusted my priorities.

My family is happier for it :-) and I am too!

Tortured for Christ

I'm waiting for my copy of Tortured for Christ, I did a quick search and found a pdf of it. Just kinda glancing through I found this paragraph...

We Made a Deal--We Preached and They Beat

It was strictly forbidden to preach to other prisoners. It was understood that whoever was caught doing this received a severe beating. A number of us decided to pay the price for the privilege of preaching, so we accepted their terms. It was a deal; we preached and they beat us. We were happy preaching. They were happy beating us, so everyone was happy.

The following scene happened more times than I can remember: A brother was preaching to the other prisoners when the guards suddenly burst in, surprising him half way through a phrase. They hauled him down the corridor to their "beating room". After what seemed an endless beating, they brought him back and threw him--bloody and bruised--on the prison floor. Slowly, he picked his battered body up, painfully straightened his clothing and said, "now, brethren, where did I leave off when I was interrupted?" He continued his Gospel message!

May Yahweh have mercy on us all, that if we have to go to prison for him someday that we too would count it all joy...if we have to take a beating for him that we would be happy to be chosen to suffer for his name sake...and if we have to die for him we would follow our Messiah and be willing to lay our lives down for Him...

A Letter

It was once said to me,

"The Lord will not have a tattered bride" meaning she will not be beaten and abused by the adversary...thus the rapture of the church...the snatching away of his bride.

At the time, I had nothing to say as I had not studied the 'rapture' however, I knew in my spirit that we Americans were not held up as a 'special' people to escape such persecution as other nations...what, are we greater than the apostle themselves, who were martyred for Messiah?

If I could have that conversation again this would be my response:

A Letter from Corrie Ten Boom

The world is deathly ill. It is dying.
The Great Physician has already signed the death certificate. Yet there
is still a great work for Christians to do. They are to be streams of
living water, channels of mercy to those who are still in the world. It
is possible for them to do this because they are overcomers.

Christians are ambassadors for
Christ. They are representatives from Heaven to this dying world.
And because of our presence here, things will change.

My sister, Betsy, and I were in the Nazi
concentration camp at Ravensbruck because we committed the crime of loving
Jews. Seven hundred of us from Holland, France, Russia,
Poland and Belgium were herded into a room
built for two hundred. As far as I knew, Betsy and I were the only two
representatives of Heaven in that room.

We may have been the Lord's only
representatives in that place of hatred, yet because of our presence there,
things changed. Jesus said, "In the world you shall have
tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." We
too, are to be overcomers – bringing the light of Jesus into a world filled
with darkness and hate.

Sometimes I get frightened as I read the
Bible, and as I look in this world and see all of the tribulation and
persecution promised by the Bible coming true. Now I can tell you,
though, if you too are afraid, that I have just read the last pages. I
can now come to shouting "Halleluyah! Halleluyah!" for I have found
where it is written that Jesus said,

"He that overcometh shall inherit all
things:

and I will be His God,

and he shall be My son."

This is the future and hope of this world. Not that
the world will survive – but that we shall be overcomers in the midst of a
dying world.

Betsy and I, in the concentration camp,
prayed that God would heal Betsy who was so weak and sick.

"Yes, the Lord will heal me,", Betsy said with confidence.

She died the next day and I could not understand it. They laid her thin body on
the concrete floor along with all the other corpses of the women who died that
day.

It was hard for me to understand, to
believe that God had a purpose for all that. Yet because of Betsy's
death, today I am traveling all over the world telling people about Jesus.

There are some among us teaching there will be no tribulation, that the
Christians will be able to escape all this. These are the false teachers that
Jesus was warning us to expect in the latter days. Most of them have little knowledge of what is
already going on across the world. I have been in countries where the saints
are already suffering terrible persecution.

In China,
the Christians were told, "Don't worry, before the tribulation comes you
will be translated – raptured." Then came a terrible persecution.
Millions of Christians were tortured to death. Later I heard a Bishop from China
say, sadly,

"We
have failed. We should have made the
people strong for persecution,

rather than telling them Jesus would come first.
Tell the people how to be strong in times of persecution, how to stand when the
tribulation comes, – to stand and not faint."

I feel
I have a divine mandate to go and tell the people of this world that it is
possible to be strong in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are in training for the
tribulation, but more than sixty percent of the Body of Christ across the world
has already entered into the tribulation. There is no way to escape it. We are
next.

Since I have already gone through prison
for Jesus' sake, and since I met the Bishop in China, now every time I read a good
Bible text I think, "Hey, I can use that in the time of
tribulation. " Then I write it down and learn it by heart.

When I was in the concentration camp, a
camp where only twenty percent of the women came out alive, we tried to cheer
each other up by saying, "Nothing could be any worse than today." But
we would find the next day was even worse. During this time a Bible verse
that I had committed to memory gave me great hope and joy.

"If ye be reproached for the name of Christ,
happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you; on their part evil is spoken of, but
on your part He is
glorified."

(I Peter 3:14)

I found myself saying, "Halleluyah! Because I am suffering, Jesus is
glorified!"

In America,
the churches sing, "Let the congregation escape tribulation" , but in China and Africa
the tribulation has already arrived. This last year alone more than two hundred
thousand Christians were martyred in Africa.
Now things like that never get into the newspapers because they cause bad
political relations. But I know. I have been there. We need to think about that
when we sit down in our nice houses with our nice clothes to eat our steak
dinners. Many, many members of the Body of Christ are being tortured to death
at this very moment, yet we continue right on as though we are all going to
escape the tribulation.

Several years ago I was in Africa in a nation where a new government had come into
power. The first night I was there some of the Christians were commanded to
come to the police station to register. When they arrived they were arrested
and that same night they were executed. The next day the same thing happened
with other Christians. The third day it was the same. All the Christians in the
district were being systematically murdered.

The fourth day I was to speak in a
little church. The people came, but they were filled with fear and tension. All
during the service they were looking at each other, their eyes asking,
"Will this one I am sitting beside be the next one killed? Will I be the
next one?"

The room was hot and stuffy with insects
that came through the screenless windows and swirled around the naked bulbs
over the bare wooden benches. I told them a story out of my childhood.

When I was a little girl, I said,
"I went to my father and said, "Daddy, I am afraid that I will never
be strong enough to be a martyr for Jesus Christ."

"Tell me," said Father, "When you take a train trip to Amsterdam, when do I give
you the money for the ticket? Three
weeks before?"

"No, Daddy, you give me the money for the ticket just before we get
on the train."

"That is right," my father said, "and so it is with God's
strength. Our Father in Heaven knows
when you will need the strength to be a martyr for Jesus Christ.

He will supply all you need – just in time…"

My African friends were nodding and
smiling.

Suddenly a spirit of joy descended upon that church and the people began
singing,

" In the sweet, by and by,

we shall meet on that beautiful shore."

Later that week, half the congregation of that
church was executed.

I heard later that the other half was killed some months ago.

But I must tell you something. I was so
happy that the Lord used me to encourage these people, for unlike many of their
leaders, I had the word of God. I had been to the Bible and discovered that
Jesus said He had not only overcome the world, but to all those who remained
faithful to the end, He would give a crown of life.

How can we get ready for the persecution?

First we need to feed on the Word of God, digest it,
make it a part of our being. This will mean disciplined Bible study each day as
we not only memorize long passages of scripture, but put the principles to work
in our lives.

Next we need to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Not just the Jesus of yesterday, the Jesus of History,

but the life-changing Jesus of today who is still alive

and sitting at the right hand of God.

We must be filled with the Holy
Spirit. This is no optional
command of the Bible, it is absolutely necessary. Those earthly disciples could
never have stood up under the persecution of the Jews and Romans had they not
waited for Pentecost. Each of us needs our own personal Pentecost, the baptism
of the Holy Spirit. We will never be able to stand in the tribulation without
it.

In the coming persecution we must be ready to help each other and encourage
each other. But we must
not wait until the tribulation comes before starting. The fruit of the Spirit should be the
dominant force of every Christian's life.

Many are fearful of the coming
tribulation, they want to run. I, too, am a little bit afraid when I think that
after all my eighty years, including the horrible Nazi concentration camp, that
I might have to go through the tribulation also. But then I read the Bible and
I am glad.

When I am weak, then I shall be strong,
the Bible says. Betsy and I were prisoners for the Lord, we were so weak, but
we got power because the Holy Spirit was on us. That mighty inner strengthening
of the Holy Spirit helped us through. No, you will not be strong in yourself
when the tribulation comes. Rather, you will be strong in the power of Him who
will not forsake you. For seventy-six years I have known the Lord Jesus and not
once has He ever left me, or let me down.

"Though He slay me, yet will I trust
Him", (Job 13:15) for
I know that to all who overcome, He shall give the crown of life.
