Yummy Plum Pistachio...

Mittens!

I've learned a new knitting stitch Fair Isle, using two or more different colored yarns to knit a lovely pattern.  It was fun to learn and a quick knit, I knit up a pair with a scarf in just under a week.  Now to begin knitting up a pair for each of my girls!
Hum... I might even knit up a pair for a winter give-away ;-)

Finished!

Here they are, my first pair of knitted socks...well
at least they look like socks. Notice I didn't
take a close up pic of them, lol.
My dd loves them. Now I'm working on a pair of
bed socks for my dm.
I'm hooked on knitting! For some crazy reason, I always
wanted to knit socks, now all I want to do is knit socks?
No, I don't go around looking at all the cute socks in
the stores, no, I only wear white plain socks, but
for some strange reason I want to
knit socks??? And you know what
I love it!!!
So I'm off to finish up my dm socks...think of it

Needle Case

This is my new knitting needle case
I thought it would take oh about three
hours to sew...lol...
six hours later...

It has over 30 pockets for
future needles and
a nice zipped pocket to keep my
smaller tools such as markers.
and the final pocket is
for my tool to measure
stitches..lol...I have no idea how
or even why I need it...
But one thing I do know, my needles
will no longer be at the bottom of my
knitting basket or getting tangled
in my yarn balls.

Learning to Knit through youtube!

This post is for Miss Bridgett~

**********

grab a ball of yarn, two knitting needles, and click on the youtube video. And practice. I would suggest knitting a wash cloth using just knit stitches. Move on to a scarf and then just continue. My goal is a pair of socks using four double pointed needles, and I'm doing it!! Yay.

Come on Bridgett you don't need me just watch the video over and over till you get it. Hay, try joining www.ravelry.com/ it's a knitting community and very helpful!

Happy Knitting!

Knitting Project

The last time I tried to knit was in high school or maybe junior high, anyway it was a long time ago!
I have this hankering to knit some socks, but I need some practice in knitting first, so this is my first 'real' knitting project, a winter scarf for dh.
The pattern is a basket weave it's pretty basic:

I'm using a size 8 needles.

co, 26 sts

rows 1-4 knit

after knitting the first four rows this is the basket weave pattern:

( 1) k3, k5, p5, k5, p5, k3
do this for 10 rows

then

(2) k3, p5, k5, p5, k5, k3
do this for 10 rows then go back to to (1) and repeat till you get the length you want for the scarf.

remember to add four rows of knitting at the bottom, the three k3 at the beginning and end of the rows are boarders as are the four rows of knit at the top and bottom of the scarf.

finish with bo.

Abbreviations:

c0=cast on

k=knit

sts=stitches

p=pearl

bo=bind off (which I haven't come to yet, and when I do I'll have to learn how, lol)
