Genesis 4-6

B'resheet (Genesis) 4-6

As I was reading these chapters verses 8 of chapter 4 caught my attention:

If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it."

Yah was very clear in this kingdom living key; we must rule over our temptations, if we succumb to them they will become our master.

Yahshua said like this: "Verily, Verily, I say unto you who ever commits sin is the servant of sin. John 8:34 KJV

Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? John 8:34 ESV

Our society now has redefined sin according to their own knowledge, but how does the Bible define sin? 1John 3:4 defines it like this: whosoeverth committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

The word commit actually means practice. The word practice means 1)to do or perform frequently; make a habit of it 2)to do repeatedly in order to become proficient.

There are other ways we 'practice' sin without actually committing them. Such as watching TV programs or video/DVD that are ungodly, full of violence, perversions, adultery, fornication, unkindness, foul language, gossip, the list can just go on and on. Some would say "I don't practice what I watch" however the word says that those who take pleasure in unrighteousness are sinning: (we don't watch TV/video's/DVDs/music etc because we hate it or because it's so uncomfortable to our flesh, no we do like it)

2 Thes 2:9-12 (Reading the whole 2nd ch of 2 Thes is worth studying)
The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders,
2Th 2:10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
2Th 2:11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false,
2Th 2:12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Romans
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge (to recognize his authority and or claims/teachings/council) God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Rom 1:29 They were filled with (David filled his heart with the word of Yah that he might not sin against him, what are we filling our hearts with) all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
Rom 1:30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. (Our TV programs are FULL of these sins)
Rom 1:32 Though they know God's decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. (again we wouldn't watch/read/listen if it didn't feel good to our flesh)

David said, "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me". Wow, not many of Yah's people can say this...

We may not say out of our mouths that we approve of the things we watch or read, however, our actions speak volumes, we spend hours in front of the TV, computer, magazines, or on the phone filling our hearts with all sorts of unrighteous things.

This is the practice of sin...repeating over and over till it is proficient (well rehearsed, skilled) in our hearts. When it is well established in our hearts we will find ourselves doing it and we will be judged guilty. Remember the man who lust's after a woman has committed adultery already in his heart.

In 1John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk even as he walked.
Yahshua never was entertained by unrighteousness, but he always reproved it.

1John3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

If we stop practicing sin, turn and repent from our wicked ways, turn to Elohim and obey his ways than we will no more be slave to sin but we will rule over our temptations.

It is my life's prayer that I would love the truth, recieve the truth, live the truth, and if need be to die for the truth.
