TOBY week 15

Ok, so I haven't been very diligent with this commitment... start over...

lol, on our 15th week of school, we took two weeks off for Sukkot.

Scriptures:

We were going to follow the Parsha but then

came across The Greenleaf Guide to Old Testament History

and went with it.

This week the girls covered The Flood, The Rainbow and Yah's Covenant,

The Tower of Babel,

and finishing this week up with

Abram called to leave his home, winds up in Egypt

Character:

We are starting up with our Tea Time Thursdays again,

it's been a couple of years since we last

had a tea time, so on Thurs we

had one.  We are starting a new

curr called Bright Light

and we read and discussed Lesson One

Be Strong for Yahweh in Your Youth, both

girls made a commitment to walk in Torah

and gave their lives to Yahweh a few weeks ago,

so this study just reinforced what they had already done.

World History:

The time period they are reading about now is the desert wondering of Israel,

however this weeks reading is covering the

happenings in Egypt while the children of Yisrael

are in the wilderness.  They learned of

Sesorstris or sometimes called Rameses the Great, this is

the time when Egypt and Assyria were

the great nations of the world.

Hebrew:
Our Hebrew is progressing rather slowly... still they are learning new words...
the challenge is retaining the words...

Music Lessons:

If you kept up with our curr, you'ld remember we

were learning the Recorder, however, our first choice was

the Guitar.  At the time we didn't have a nice one, so

we went with the recorder.  Now that we have

a nice Guitar the girls (mom and dad too) are learning

the Guitar.  The girls already know several cords and

songs but I'm still having them go through the Lessons.
They are on less 3 & 4.

Hebraic Dance:

The girls have learned several steps:

1. Miyim or the Grapevine
2. Terkasia
3. Yemanite
4. Hopping Box
5. Coupe

With these five steps many dances are choreographed.

they can dance with:

• It Shall Come To Pass
• Let Yah Arise
• It is Good
• Roni Roni
• These are the Days of EliYah

They are also choreographing their own dances.

That's it for this week, I wish I had pics to add
but I think I paced my camera away with the camping

gear...oy... now I'm going to have to go through

everything... I hope I find it :-)

TOBY the new school year

This has officially be our second week of school.

I'm going to try and be more diligent about post a TOBY report this year,

at least make a post every two weeks.

This is part of the girls curr. It's based on the Robinson Curr except
I chose different books to read.

The girls have said that they have already learned so much,
and they're enjoying it!!

We've decided to learn the 50 most poisonous plants
this year, one each week.
These plants will kill you, there are many plants
that will make you sick, sick enough to put you
in a hospital, but these plants will put
you in the ground.

We want to learn to identify these so there will be no
accidental consumption of them.

Some of the plants are the most beautiful we seen,

This plant is known as the monkshood or wolf's bane...

deadly!!

We are starting a new reading cycle of the Torah Portion, the girls read
Torah for an hour a day, then write about what they read.

This is their Book of Centuries, another first for them,
along with their writing they also will keep
record of important and exciting events that
has happened in history, starting with the creation week.

day three and four,

day five and six, AbbiYah isn't finished with coloring
this page and is yet to start drawing the seventh day...



They are also learning a musical instrument and yet another first for
them. They were so excited to actually learn
a song on the first day. Mary had a Little Lamb.

There was much more they learned but these were just
a few of the
highlights of the last two weeks.

TOBY week 1

Loni @ Hearts in Training is starting a weekly HS Highlights for

Torah Observant Believers in Yahshua meme

which I thought was a great idea for us.

This week I created three different decks of cards:

Ancient Hebrew, Modern Hebrew, and Combination of both

Alef-Bet flash cards using PagePlus a free desktop publisher program.

My girls already know the modern Hebrew Alef-Bet
thanks to the Alef-Bet Video by Debbie Friedman
They're not familiar with the Ancient Hebrew.
We'll be playing several card games with these
decks, I'll share their favorite one which is called
'BAM' Throw all the cards in a bucket
or bowl. The first player picks a card from
the bucket and then says the name, sound and
the modern Hebrew letter equivalent to it.
If the answer is correct the player gets to keep
the card if not it goes back in the bucket. The game
continues with each player picking a card.
Now this is the FUN part, when a player
picks BAM he must then take all the
cards he has been collecting and put them in the
bucket and the next player picks.
My girls can play this game for hours and
never get tired!!

My girls wanted to join Girl Scouts but after
searching it out we found that they aren't
very Torah observant, so we began to
seek an alternative and through answered
prayer we found
Keepers of the Faith
they offer a handbook for boys
and girls to keep record of activities
to build skills and biblical character.
